Annually, people across the world join together to recognize the strength and resilience of people living HIV, as well as the courage and dedication to those dedicated to the eradication of the virus. Worlds AIDS Day vary in nature, however by wearing red ribbons, all who participate stand in solidarity with those who are fighting HIV and for those who died from an HIV-related illness.
Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment where we understand more about the virus and can provide effective treatment where people can obtain an undetectable HIV status, which ultimately means that person is unable to transmit the virus to another person. Amidst the estimated 1.1 million people living with HIV in the United States and 36.7 million globally– we can and will be the generation to eradicate HIV. SisterLove remains committed to advocating for better access to treatments and wraparound services and support for people living with and affected by HIV.

Stephanie, a beloved employee of SisterLove, has been an advocate for HIV positive people since she received her diagnosis. She commented, “As a person living with HIV for 20 years, it baffles me that people still don’t know what the acronym of HIV stands for. How can we live with something and not know what it is? If more people knew what HIV actually is, they would know how to prevent it.”
